The Band

The band was founded by Richard Morales – bassist, Jaime Smalbach – singer and lead guitar and Jose Turizo – guitar.  The place was Markham, Ontario in the summer of 2012.  The first official gig they presented themselves as “Los Moralitos” was at the Markham Village Music Festival on June of that year. They had been performing in private parties and corporate events in Markham since 2005 without a band name.  Los Moralitos started their movement into the Festival music scene by playing traditional covers from their favorite tropical bands of the 80s.  The band started to develop its own sound and repertoire using modern electric sounds without compromising the danceable nature of the traditional elements of the original music.  The band plays danceable rhythms like salsa and cumbia without the use of trumpets or heavy percussion artillery of the large Latin bands we all familiar with. The result is a funky electric tropical sound that engages crows to dance and have a good time.

Now three years later they are producing their first independent album and have just released their first single named “City of Friends”, a song dedicated to the City Markham  and the Pan Am Games of Toronto 2015.
